Resumen

El Instituto Nacional de Geología y Minería de Venezuela (INGEOMIN) realiza un proyecto denominado “Levantamiento aerogeofísico en sectores del sur del estado Bolívar”. Este proyecto incluye el estudio helitransportado de tres sectores de investigación, utilizando los métodos geofísicos magnético, electromagnético de frecuencia y gammaespectrométrico. En este trabajo se presenta la metodología aplicada y los resultados preliminares obtenidos con el método gammaespectrométrico, en parte del sector Icabarú. Mediante los mapas de imágenes de los tres radioelementos uranio, torio y potasio (U, Th y K) y el mapa ternario, se cartografían las diferentes variedades litológicas de la zona. Esto permitió caracterizar los grupos geológicos de Roraima y Cuchivero por la distribución superficial de las concentraciones de estos elementos, así como identificar algunas diferencias con el mapa geológico vigente para la región.

Abstract

The National Institute of Geology and Mining of Venezuela (INGEOMIN) is carrying out a project called “Airborne Geophysical Survey over the southern area of Bolivar State”. This project includes three areas of investigation using Helicopter-borne frequency domain Electromagnetics, Gammaray Spectrometry and Magnetics systems. In this paper we will present the applied methodology and the preliminary results of the Gammaray Spectometric method, over the Icabarú area. The three radioelements maps (U, Th y K) and the ternary map improves the mapping of different lithological variations in the zone. This allows the characterization of the Roraima and Cuchivero geological groups according to the shallow distribution of the concentrations of these elements, as well as identifies differences in the current geological map of the area.
